Hugo Swanstein

Hugo Swanstein is currently completing a 2-year rotating small animal internship at the University of Copenhagen, where he also obtained his DVM in 2022. Hugo developed a passion for emergency and critical care medicine, particularly point of care ultrasound (POCUS), through his mentor, Dr. Bert Jan Reezigt, and through research he conducted on feline lung ultrasound during his veterinary studies and internship at Copenhagen. He is currently the co-administrator of the popular “European Veterinary POCUS Study Group” on Facebook, where he frequently shares tips and tricks, as well as clinical cases. Already recognized as an excellent speaker and educator, Hugo has delivered and co-delivered multiple lectures and workshops on POCUS at the national and international level, both individually and in collaboration with numerous colleagues considered leaders in the field of POCUS. Beyond his clinical and educational contributions, Hugo serves as the Head of the Communications Subcommittee for VECCUS Interest Group board.
