Angela Elia
Angela Elia earned her BS in Animal Behavior Psychology in 2005 from Northland College. In 2006, she moved to NYC where she began doing canine and feline behavioral modification and rehabilitation work for the NYC public shelter system. In 2015, she graduated from LaGuardia Community College, earning an Associate’s Degree in Veterinary Technology and became a Licensed Veterinary Technician. Shortly after, she began to work in emergency and critical care departments across the NYC metro area. She was drawn to emergency and critical care for the opportunity it provides to help pets and owners in their greatest time of need. In 2021, Angela earned her VTS in Emergency and Critical Care. With this new certification, she has begun to devote her time to creating education and mentorship programs for the advancement of fellow technicians around the world. Angela enjoys speaking on topics such as specialized nursing care considerations, emergency medicine and increasing proper nurse utilization. Her biggest passion outside of the clinic is international veterinary medicine and bringing veterinary support to underserved communities of developing nations. To date, she has participated in veterinary based humanitarian missions in nearly 30 different countries, helping to bring priceless medical treatment and care to thousands of owned and free-roaming animals. When not traveling internationally, she lives in Philadelphia, with her 3 dogs and 1 cat that were rescued from various places around the world!
