Terri DeFrancesco
Dr. Terri DeFrancesco is a Professor in Cardiology and Critical Care at the North Carolina State University, College of Veterinary Medicine, in Raleigh, NC. She is also the Assistant Department Head in the Department of Clinical Sciences and Small Animal Focus Leader.
Dr. DeFrancesco completed her DVM degree at Cornell University in 1991, followed by a small animal rotating internship at Virginia Tech and residencies in Cardiology and Emergency/Critical Care both at NC State University. She is double-boarded in the American College of Internal Medicine (Cardiology) and the American College of Emergency and Critical Care. Dr. DeFrancesco has been on faculty at NC State College of Veterinary Medicine since 1995.
She has been the recipient of numerous teaching and clinical awards including the Cobblestone TAGS Faculty Excellence Award in Cardiology Endowment, two-time recipient of the Pfizer Norden Teaching award, six-time recipient of the Clinician of the year award, and the NCVMA NCSU Clinician of the year award. Dr. DeFrancesco is an author of over 80 peer-reviewed publications of clinical relevant research studies, clinical reviews, case series and case reports and 20 book chapters.
Dr. Ds areas of interest include improving the diagnosis and treatment of heart failure in dogs and cats, use of thoracic point of care ultrasound in emergency settings, cardiac emergency management.
